About Robert

Robert I. Amer, LICSW is the founder, owner, and co-director of Harborside Counseling Services. He graduated from Long Island University in 1972 and received his Masters in Social Work from Boston University in 1976. With over 30 years experience as a psychotherapist, Robert has been a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work (ABECSW), Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW), Association of Play Therapists, and Registry of Group Therapists (RGT). His specialties include working with children, adolescents and their families as well as relationship therapies with couples. He provides 'recovery' therapies for individuals with alcohol/substance abuse problems and enjoys working with survivors of child abuse diagnosed with PTSD in individual and group therapy.
